Passing Two

I come around a bend in the road. A straight away. Off in the distance a speck is obscured partially by the heat rising off the pavement. I can tell by the speck's rate of shrinkage that it's a vehicle powered by a human motor. The speck is black and red and looks to be the right size and shape to be my leap frogging companion. I grab the drops, raise my gear and my cadence. The wind picks up on this flat and buffets my ears. After 10 minutes pressing, I look up to see the speck has grown closer. I slow while I pull my water bottle from it's cage and take long drinks. I retrieve a snack from handlebar bag and hurriedly chew while I pick my pace up again. Moving to the drops again once my hands are both free. I bow my head and resume my pursuit.
